Election Updates

Requesting absentee ballots, moving precinct # 1 and # 2, and same day voter registration

Richland Township Voters will have thee elections in the 2020 calendar year.   March 10, is the Presidential Primary.  This  election is a closed primary and voters will need to specify a party type to receive the appropriate ballot.   Closed elections are the only tyime we will ask for a party perference.   This information is only used to determine the type of ballot you want to vote.  

Voters who have been placed on the permanent absent voter list; should receive their applicaitions around January 1st.   Currently printers are waiting approval from  Michigan Bureau of Elections on the current application.  Once the approval is given for the application, they will be mailed.    If you wish to be placed on the permanent absent voter list, click here, or contact the township office at 629-4921.   An applicaiton must be completed for every election.

Due to growth in the township; two polling locations were moved to larger venues.

Voters in precinct # 1 who previously voted at Gull Lake United Methodist Church will  now vote at the gracespring Bilbe Church located at 8643 Gull Road.

Voters in precinct # 2 who previously voted at the Richland Township Hall will now vote at Living Hope Community Church  located at 9292 East "CD" Avenue.

Township offices are open the Saturday before each election from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. for those wishing to register to vote and / or obtain an absentee ballot.

With the passage of proposal 3 in November 2018, Michigan voters no longer need to specifiy a reason for requesting an absentee ballot.   This proposal also allows for same day registration.

Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services Department is participating today in a statewide effort provided by the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) to offer COVID-19 testing for the most vulnerable and at risk Michiganders- older adults residing in nursing homes and the staff caring for them. This statewide testing endeavor, as announced last week, is in coordination with the Michigan State Police through the State Emergency Operations Center. The Michigan National Guard has also been enlisted to assist in the collection of specimen.

Kalamazoo, MI – Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services Department’s Area Agency on Aging (AAA) IIIA has joined forces with Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes to streamline distribution of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farmers to Families Food Box Program. On May 8, the USDA approved contracts across the country for the program, which allows local farmers and suppliers to coordinate boxes of fruits, vegetables, and dairy with food banks and Area Agency on Aging across the state. AAA IIIA will receive the first delivery this week.

Attached is a map showing the City's revised 2020 Water System Flushing Schedule, which will begin on June 14, 2020 and continue through June 23, 2020.  Flushing will take place during evening hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. and daytime hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

I-94 Expansion in Kalamazoo

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin construction on Monday, May 18, to prepare a 2.8-mile section of I-94 between Lovers Lane and Sprinkle Road in Kalamazoo to be widened from two lanes to three lanes in each direction.
